Baby guinea pig

A baby Guinea pig

The best time to breed a guinea pig is when they are between three and four months old. That way the pelvic bones don't fuse together, causing the blockage of offspring at birth.

While a sow is pregnant she must have a lot of vitamin C in her diet. While she is pregnant, avoid handling and picking her up.

Giving BirthEdit

The sow will give birth in about 60 to 72 days. Most times they are born around evening or twilight. Also, it is a good idea to take the male out of the cage, as he might kill the newborns.

The mother will feed the babies milk until they are about three weeks old. Do not seperate them from their mother until they are about five or six weeks old.
